How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Welder 1 position in the Irrigation Department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will weld metal components together to fabricate or repair products according to layouts or blueprints.. Additionally, you will…
Applies limited weldments to prescribed settings and other minor welding jobs in a proficient and qualitative fashion
Performs minor welding machine maintenance (i.e. tips, liners, gas cups)
Uses labor reporting system, routing shop forms, fills out move tags, reads and utilizes blueprints.
Adjusts welding machinery to its prescribed settings, operates production tooling and fixtures, and operates oxy/acetylene and plasma burning equipment.
Uses all safety devices, operates all tooling, fixtures and equipment in a safe manner, wears/uses all mandatory safety apparel, i.e., weld masks, metatarsal boots, and hearing protection
Demonstrates effective and proper communication skills, responding in a positive/cooperative fashion to the direction of a supervisor or lead
Participates in various team functions and projects
Works with elements of lean production
Makes accurate accounting of labor, number of parts produced, and provide all necessary quality checks
High school diploma or GED equivalent
A working knowledge of using e-mail
The ability to successfully demonstrate hands-on level 1 mig/arc welding during an on-site capability test
The ability to work over ten hours a week in overtime when required for business needs
Attention to detail and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Welding certification from a recognized school
Welding experience in a professional environment
Over five years of non-professional welding experience (i.e. hobby or other recreational activity)
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
