A Brief Summary of This Position
This is an individual contributor position and the Shipping Coordinator is responsible for the. arranging of outbound shipments of all orders in the most efficient manner and coordinating with trucking carriers, preparing bills of lading and shipping documents for outbound shipments. This Shipping Coordinator will also assist in arranging for the most cost efficient means of moving product to its destination while meeting the customers’ deadlines
Work with customers on achieving daily loads of delivery.
Prepare load sheets for daily delivery
Prepare line up sheets for daily delivery
Work with hardware vendors on deliver dates and schedules for all hardware including Valmont Ordered hardware.
Report any changes in delivery schedule to immediate supervision.
Prepare maps for BOL’s
Turn in daily loads to supervision on daily basis to help ensure accurate inventory tracking for pole inventory
Work with carriers to arrange daily pick up from Valmont TuscaloosaResponsible for reading basic blueprints Other Important Details about the Role
Navigate Computer and MAS200 to lookup past and current bills of lading upon request
Create bills of lading for outbound shipments
Update weekly shipping spreadsheet
Coordinate and track status of each outgoing load
Contact Contractors and document completion date and shipping date.
Gather PODs from carriers to provide to accountant after product has been delivered.
Assist with the preparation of quotes and bids to meet deadlines.
Actively participate in department safety, demonstrate excellent safety practices and behaviors which conform to all Valmont safety policy and procedures.
Reading, understanding, and applying the standards of the Code of Business Conduct.
Supporting efforts to identify and communicate to management non-compliance with the Code of Business Conduct or other violations of policy or illegal actions.
Accountable to direct supervisor for responsibilities in internal control.
Identifying and evaluating risks to the achievement of objectives and understanding established risk tolerances related to areas of responsibility.
Execution of control activities in areas of responsibility.
Producing and sharing information used in the internal
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)
High School Diploma / GED required
One (1) year of experience
Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders
Ability to read and decipher blueprints
Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Effectively communicate with key personnel via phone, email, and face-to-face
Possess knowledge of transportation terms & manufacturing processes
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds, although most frequent lift is up to 10 pounds
Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when inside the production facility
Ability to be exposed to outdoors elements for short durations of time
Passion & integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 3+ years of experience, within a shipping/logistics coordination role
Experience with warehouse inventory systems
Experience with an ERP System (ex. IFS)
Experience with Traffic Management System

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
