Lead - Shop

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Lead Shop position in the Global Utility Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will be responsible for supervising the Pouring department and on occasion the Assembly department. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing the pouring operations for the current day’s production, cleaning the department area, and training new employees in the department. In addition, all site personnel receive cross-training and will be expected to work in any part of the plant as required by management. This position is an evening shift position.

Essential Functions:

  • This individual will supervise the concrete mixing department

  • Ensure the department members remain on task.

  • This individual must also work with fellow personnel in the Pouring department to ensure the caps or tops of the poles are added with ease

  • This individual must be able to assist in or to operate the spinner controls to spin the poles in the day’s production and assist with the general maintenance and up keep of the spinner.

  • This individual must be able to operate all equipment in the pouring department

  • Oversee the ordering of batching material such as cement, rock, sand, and admixtures with the batch plant operator.

  • Oversee the cleanliness and organization of the batch plant with the batch plant operator.

  • Work with the batch plant operator on the record keeping and maintenance checklist

  • Oversee the cleaning of production equipment daily.

  • This individual must ensure the poles in the day’s production are poured correctly.

  • Work with fellow personnel in the Pouring department clean any debris from mold

  • Work closely with the Lead Quality Assurance

  • Review all assembled pieces, notify Lead QA of readiness for inspection, and make any indicated changes or corrections

SKILLS /QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • One year manufacturing experience.

  • Person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an industrial shop setting. The incumbent is regularly required to stand for long extended periods of time. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. There are no travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the shop. The employee is frequently required to move about the shop and site. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards when performing manual tasks such as welding or handling various materials. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds in working with materials and equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Working conditions may include abnormal temperatures including heat, cold, rain, snow and ice. Employee may also be exposed to jarring and bouncing, high noise areas, and other job related hazards. Employees are required to wear all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) for the position.
