This is an entry level, hourly inspection position. This is not a certified quality tech position. Pay is $16 for 1st shift and $17 for second shift. Monday through Friday.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Check and inspect product for flaws or defects

  • Assess product according to ASTM standards

  • Take mill readings using a positector 6000 probe

  • Approve product for movement to paint and/or shipping

  • Upload data from positector to computer/VCC MAX

  • Complete data entry on computer as needed

  • Guide and train finishers on recognizing and repairing defects

  • Guide and train finishers in metalizing process

  • Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping

  • Work safely, protecting self and others from accident and injury

  • Operate an overhead crane as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs,

  • Able stand, walk, sit, bend, squat, stoop, climb, push, pull, reach, grasp, hold and carry for various periods of time.

  • Able to wear required PPE at all times: Hard hat, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, reflective vest, long sleeves, long pants, steel toed boots with built in met guards. Face shield and other PPE as required.

Job Summary:

The Coatings Inspector will complete in-house inspection of customer product based on ASTM standards after the galvanizing and/or paint process has been completed, check for flaws or defects, take mil readings using a positector 6000 probe, enter into VCC MAX and complete required inspection paperwork. The inspector will also be responsible for training finishers on recognizing and repairing defects and/or proper use of the metalizer. The inspector will operate the overhead crane when needed. Must follow all processes, procedures and regulations and maintain the highest of standards including no damage to product and/or equipment. Must wear PPE at all times, arrive on time, work the required schedule each week and report any damage or issues to the department supervisor immediately. Must be aware of surroundings at all times including coworkers, especially while in movement.
