The Manufacturing Manager oversees the day-to-day manufacturing operations of the Plymouth, IN Engineered Support Structures Division. Managing the efficiency of production processes, materials, inventory, and staff are key responsibilities to meet business metrics and exceed customer quality and on-time delivery expectations. Leading by example while working together with the Manufacturing, Shipping, Quality, Engineering, Customer Service, Finance and Human Resources team members. Providing direct supervision as the point-of-contact for manufacturing personnel.

Essential Functions :

  • Lead, promote and nurture a Safety minded environment

  • Monitor and maintain the production planning and flow process

  • Provide ongoing forecasting and capacity management

  • Establish and maintain procedures that ensure high standards of productivity, product quality, cost effectiveness and safety

  • Utilize human and capital resources to meet site goals while consistently serving the needs of the Customer

  • Support improvement efforts utilizing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques

  • Provide leadership, direction, accountability and motivation to employees

  • Support a continuous Quality Improvement mentality on the production floor

Other Important Details about the Role :

  • This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and through operations supervisors, must direct and coordinate the activities of all production departments.

  • This role requires up to 10% travel domestically, including overnight stays.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred, with 6+ years of relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in manufacturing or equivalent

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a formal manufacturing leadership role (supervisor or greater)

  • Demonstrated initiative to make decisions, lead issues towards resolution, demonstrate complete follow through and take timely action

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Productions including Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Minimum 1 – 2 years’ experience in Lean Manufacturing

  • Demonstrated strengths in interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to adapt to the audience and professionally communicate with a variety of people

  • Strong blueprint reading skills, including weld interpretation

  • Willingness to learn to weld and operate production equipment

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications :

  • B.S. in Manufacturing, Business, Engineering or related field, is preferred

  • Advanced Degree

  • Demonstrated experience and results within a lean manufacturing environment

  • 6+ years’ of manufacturing management experience

  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification

  • Strong goal orientation; specifically the ability to focus on goal attainment and obtain predetermined results effectively and efficiently

  • The ability to solve complex problems with high attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment subject to specific deadlines

  • Diverse knowledge of CNC equipment, torch/plasma, fab punch and brake press

  • Capability to weld

  • A person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results

Working Environment and Physical Efforts :

Work is performed in both an office and manufacturing plant environment with exposure to conditions such as dust, dirt, grease, heat, fumes, and cold as well as noise levels above 80 decibels. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Many aspects of this role are physical and the incumbent must be able to lift, push, &/or pull up to 50 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, and arms as well as balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and talk & listen on the phone & in personal conversations or meetings. Some travel, up to 10% domestically, is required for this position. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
