The main goal of this position is the application of technology to re-engineer fundamental business processes for speed, efficiency, and competitive advantage. You will design, develop, implement, and support the various business applications and major business subsystems within the corporation.
This position will lead and manage a team of functional and/or technical staff within the Global IT Applications organization for an assigned scope of accountabilities. This leadership role requires advanced collaboration skills and is expected to enable and drive beneficial change for Valmont, both within IT and within the various business entities IT serves. This position may directly manage projects which are not led by the PMO. This position will manage the analysis of project requirements, effort estimation, functional and/or technical testing, as well as coordinating and supporting user acceptance testing. In addition, this leader must understand and grow team capacity and capabilities, ensure accuracy for all administrative tasks, and participate in business lead improvement events as a Trusted Advisor.
The manager will be assigned scope one or more of the following scope areas: Architecture, ERP, CRM, HR/FIN, IT, PLM, Production Support, RPA, TMS. Others may be added as a need arises.

Essential Functions:
This position reports to the Director Information Systems – Enterprise Applications Integration and has direct reports and may have indirect reports, including potential third party contract resources. Quantities of direct/indirect reports will vary over time.
Travel requirements up to 50% domestic and international with overnight stays.
Flexible schedule, with the expectation to have the ability to report into the office as needed; a working schedule that provides some overlap with core US-based team hours between 7 am and 5 pm CST is required.
Ensure the team earns and retains the status of Trusted Advisor by our business partners, while providing exceptional customer service and leadership in utilization of Informational Technology throughout the organization.
Develop and execute continual service improvement strategies to modify and enhance operational processes and impact strategic project goals with business results.
Provide mentoring via 1:1 discussion and check ins with team members to enable growth opportunities for team members.
Coordinate the assignment of team members to work items while providing structured cross training opportunities via rotational assignments, project stretch assignments, certification programs, and participation in Valmont University offerings, to name a few.
Continuously monitor industry trends, standards, technologies and best practices in process design, system development and implementation.
Research, recommend, review, and apply new technologies as they emerge.
Lead efforts to identify alternate solutions and conduct feasibility analysis including establishing estimates of effort.
Lead the implementation of assigned applications projects including but not limited to discovery, setup, training, conference room pilots, issue documentation and remediation and support.
Maintain vendor relationships ensuring accountability to delivery and product quality.
Support the development and management of department OPEX and PMO CAPEX budgets.
Review, recommend, and enforce company policies, procedures, and best practices to protect company data and ensure compliance.
Develop and maintain functional documentation that detail standard operating procedures, troubleshooting techniques, and solutions.
Collaborate with both internal resources and external vendors/solution providers to obtain stakeholder buy in and design and deliver value added services/capabilities to Valmont.
Participate in the development of IT strategy.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Preferred Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or Associate’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience within the identified scope.
Leadership role in implementation or 3+ years’ experience as a subject matter expert.
Must be available for U.S. and international travel periodically up to 50%.
Deep understanding of at least one major business process such as quote to cash, procure to pay, record to report, manufacturing and ops, supply & demand.
Advanced understanding of computer technology as it applied to business processes.
High level of initiative and self-motivation.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Experience working in an Agile team environment, and with tools such as Azure Dev Ops or JIRA.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Masters’ degree of Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field.
Must be able to work effectively with people at all levels, solve personal conflicts, understand and diagnose the causes of change resistance and initiate corrective action.
Managerial experience.
Advanced knowledge of best practices within an application domain (Ex: ERP, CRM, CPQ).
Experience in multiple systems within the assigned scope (Ex: IFS, QAD, Sage, SAP).
Implementation experience.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
Business analysis certifications from IIBA or PMI.
Hands-on experience with Valmont or similar products and/or processes.
