Valmont is seeking a BI Intern to join the Shared Services division. The Data Analyst goal is to drive understanding and decision making from data, on a strategic and tactical level. The Analyst is accountable for planning, supporting, and launching efficient business and operations systems/processes, with focus on quality improvement, data management, and process improvement and/or re-engineering. This includes gathering and analyzing data in support of business cases, proposed projects, and systems requirements. Other tasks include cleaning large datasets and assist in building a data validation process. Our ideal candidate has the ability to work on multiple business projects simultaneously and translate business data into digestible information that improve processes.

Valmont’s internship program mission is to provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • This position reports to the Manager Enterprise Data Warehouse and has no direct or indirect reports

  • No travel is required

  • Perform analysis of data sets to identify trends, relationships, and insights

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and data engineers to develop new data products

  • Implement modifications to existing workflow processes to improve systems

  • Address any data discrepancy issues across all open projects

  • Take on ad hoc projects and cultivate your own ideas

  • Deliver findings through impactful data visualizations and effective storytelling techniques

  • Experience in Power BI a plus

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Working towards a degree in Business, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Finance, or any quantitative discipline

  • The ability to dedicate 20-25 hours a week

  • A keen eye for detail and dedication to accuracy and quality

  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point

  • Self-starter and ability to work well in a team environment

  • An analytical mind and inclination for problem solving

  • Passion and integrity with the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
