A Brief Summary of This Position:
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Quality Assurance Manager position in the Composite Structures Division . We are looking for a highly driven individual that will be responsible for implementing and auditing the Total Quality Management process including developing quality procedures, implementing quality training, and communicating the results of quality efforts for the division.
This position reports into Plant Manager and has direct reports.
This role requires up to 10% travel, including overnight stays.
Manage the Quality system including processes, programs, documentation, and development of quality procedures.
Perform analysis of data and distribute quality related data to aid in identifying improvement opportunities.
Conduct root cause analysis.
Analyze/evaluate manufacturing processes to identify improvement opportunities and review new processes for possible integration into systems.
Manage the internal quality audit system and the supplier quality audit system.
Make recommendations, develop action plans, and follow up to ensure that action plans are effectively implemented.
Assist department supervisors and managers to evaluate field problem data and develop action plans to prevent causes of problems.
Ensure that quality related data bases are accurately maintained.
Supervise and manage quality department employees.
Other Important Details about the Role:
- Implementation of ISO will be a key deliverable for this role.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline or a related field or Associates degree with ten years of related experience
Five years of previous experience managing the Quality processes of an organization
Two years of previous experience in a supervisory or management position
Familiarity with statistical quality tools including Pareto, histogram, process mapping, process capability and SPC
The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers and direct reports in a positive manner
The ability to effectively interpret and present information both one-on-one and in front of an audience
The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
Knowledge of quality concepts, technical writing and training technology
A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook
Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Ten years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Five years of previous experience working with the ISO quality management system
Successfully completed and attained certification for American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, ASQ Quality Engineer or ASQ Quality Auditor
A proven record of supervisory experience and must have strong leadership
Working Environment and Physical Efforts:
Work is typically performed in an office setting and on the production floor. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office/production floor and while working on the computer. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
