Purchasing & Inventory Clerk


Mendota Heights

A Brief Summary of This Position:

You will prepare purchase orders and complete purchasing documentation.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare purchase orders and send copies to suppliers.

  • Determine if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary based upon min/max levels.

  • Respond to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes or cancellations.

  • Contact suppliers in order to schedule of expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed of late deliveries as well as other problems.

  • Confirm proper and timely delivery of requisitions and orders.

  • Calculate costs of orders and charge or forward invoices to appropriate accounts.

  • Ensures orders are accurately filled and efficiently while continually striving for improved customer satisfaction.

  • Verifies merchandise received against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and any obvious damages.

  • Maintains a clean work area to help ensure safety of employees is achieved.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • This position reports directly to the Purchasing Manager.

  • Computers- possess good proficiency in Windows Microsoft Office Software including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Must possess good mathematical skills.

  • Ability to read and understand the English language.

  • Ability to interact with diverse groups of people.

  • Good organizational and communication skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • A high school diploma /GED

  • Forklift certification ( will train if necessary)

  • Excellent organizational and efficient time management skills

  • Must be a team player and demonstrate efficient communication and problem solving skills

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • The ability to effectively interface with supervisors, lead personnel, shop floor employees, accounting and purchasing personnel.

  • The ability to function independently.

  • The ability to work in a cooperative manner and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results.

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

All of the working conditions for this position is in a manufacturing shop environment with exposure to dirt, grease, fumes, cold, heat, noise, dust. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
