A Brief Summary of This Position:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost efficient manufacturing processes and controls in accordance to product specifications and quality standards. The Process engineer will also be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading automated process controls and waste water systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Implement industry standards process control techniques to manage and develop production efficiencies and quality for Valmont products

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade PLC controlled tanks, processes, and waste water systems

  • Design and execute an experiment, review data, develop conclusions

  • Develop documented process standards and operating procedures

  • Develop and execute plans for failure analysis on products returned from the field related to inorganic, organic, and particle contamination and material issues.

  • Assist in the development of processing plans, methods, design material handling, manpower requirements, cost analysis, and other areas as appropriate

  • Develop or bring forward, as appropriate industry best practices and new technologies.

  • Prepare and review project proposals, studies and technical reports

  • Oversee the cost effective safe and timely completion of projects that meet or exceed expectations

  • Apply a sound basic knowledge of safety, environmental and energy-related issues during the executions of projects.

  • Assist in the implementation, review and improvement of the quality system.

  • Work closely with Lab, Quality, EHS and Maintenance dept.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Oversee and ensure the efficiency and efficacy of all process and procedures

  • Primary objective of improving and streamlining process controls and process documentation

  • Motivated Problem-solver with an inquiring mind

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineer, Chemistry, system automation, or related field

  • Must be a team player and able to build and maintain relationship both internal and external customers

  • Strong written and verbal stills

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Effective problem solving skills

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver results

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications

  • 3 – 5 years’ related work experience

  • Costing industrial coating background (Anodizing, Plating, Powder Coating, etc.)

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
