Starting Wage: $24.32/hour + $1.00/hour shift differential for 2nd Shift
How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the QA Inspector (Evening Shift) position. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will ensure that the products manufactured within the division and all materials received from outside divisions meet or exceed quality requirements of the customer and Valmont.
Inspection personnel should be qualified prior to the start of the inspection of production welds to all applicable code and contract requirements. These requirements vary significantly from code to code and can also depend on the inspection method being conducted. Examples of certification standards are:
AWS QC1, Standard for AWS Certification of Welding Inspectors
AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code , Chapter 6.1.4
ASNT Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A
ASNT CP-189, ASNT Standard for Qualification and Certification of Nondestructive Testing Personnel
Additionally, you will…
Ensure correct assembly of fabricated materials by dimensional checks and visual inspection of welds
Conduct Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) by ultrasonic, magnetic particle equipment, and dye penetrant equipment
Interpret reports for NDT and pass or reject materials according to quality acceptance
Record testing and inspection information on the required inspections sheets, production cards, and computer reports
Have the authority to reject material or stop work processes to minimize financial loss and risk of customer dissatisfaction
What it takes
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Two years of additional education or relevant experience, with at least six months in a welding or inspection environment
The ability to perform basic math functions such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing
The ability to accurately use and read a tape measure, thread gauges, micrometer, protractor, and dial calipers
One year of previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
A working knowledge of Microsoft Office
The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
The ability to lift up to 50 pounds
The ability to stand up to 95% of the shift
Highly qualified candidates will also posses:
Previous experience with NDT or Associates Degree or Certificate in Welding discipline or NDT: VT, MT, UT
Two years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
The ability to work timely and expeditiously to deliver an on-time result without errors
The ability to prioritize work in order to complete deadlines
The ability to identify and communicate maintenance or product problems to departmental supervision
The ability to work effectively and efficiently with plant employees, supervisors, management, and customers
