A Brief Summary of This Position:

The Lean Coordinator is an individual contributor responsible for providing on-going assistance to Lean teams and leaders in the form of coaching, training, data management and analysis, helping with project justifications, as well as acting as a liaison between team leaders, support groups, management and other functional areas. This position identifies and communicates obstacles that may affect team performance. This position prepares and presents updates as required, performs training on lean processes and methodology, and assists other teams and team leaders as required. The majority of this position’s time is spent in interaction with others; identifying and analyzing opportunities for improvement and waste reduction. The incumbent needs to have proven capabilities and past accomplishments of improving jobs through the utilization of Lean tools.

Essential Functions:

  • Facilitate and coach Lean events, coordinate Lean activities, including acting as a liaison between teams, support groups, management, and other functional areas, removing obstacles that may affect team performance, and assisting other teams and Lean Technicians as required

  • Calculate and maintain Lean-related measures, maintain records, maintain visual boards, and communicate data to relevant personnel

  • Prepare and deliver updates to the Global Lean Manager

  • Provides Lean training as necessary

  • This position reports into the El Dorado, KS Operations Manager

  • Knowledge of the material, costs, techniques and processes used within the manufacturing industry

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Bachelors in relevant field or Associates Degree with 3+ years of experience or 5+ years of relevant experience

  • A demonstrated understanding of Lean principles and methodology

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • The ability to speak in front of a group of co-workers or visitors

  • The ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for the plant

  • Ability to travel up to 5% on an annual basis

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

  • Six Sigma belt designation

  • Proven facilitation/coaching skills of Improvement events, Standard Work events, SMED events, Root cause problem solving, manufacturing and administrative value stream improvement projects

  • A solid understanding of Center of Lean Excellence criteria

  • Demonstrated commitment to learning through Lean readings and available training and educational opportunities

  • Lean Certification

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is performed in both an office and factory setting, with up to 50% of the time being spent moving around different areas of manufacturing and shipping areas. The incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. This position will be exposed to all hazards located at manufacturing sites including noise, fumes, excessive heat/cold, dust, welding arc, all chemicals associated with the manufacturing areas, smoke and confined spaces. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. Travel as needed less than 5-10%. This position will support multiple shift operations.

The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds in working with large files, binders, and boxes of paper. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
