A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for managing the shipping schedule and all associated functions for Tulsa Operations, as well as supervising a shipping and traffic team, responsible for executing the bundling of engineered to order product and shipping to ensure efficient and timely transportation services. Incumbent is responsible for identifying and developing industry leading shipping systems and practices to drive both on time delivery to customers and low cost to the business.
Essential Functions:
This position reports to the Materials Manager.
Leads and supervises the outbound logistics team based in Tulsa, Oklahoma that provides cost effective, efficient and timely transportation services in support of the business
Recruit, train, lead and supervise an effective team of traffic coordinators and shipping team members
Develop and maintain relationships with internal customers
Supports the implementation, updating and successful use of systems intended to support the operational, efficient and timely transportation services, including The Mercury Gate Transportation Management System
Provide operational leadership for the business’s distribution operations in order to meet/exceed the business’s demanding customer fulfillment requirements and cost objectives
Ensure the efficient management of shipments, and paperwork associated with the movement, loading, and deliveries for all of Tulsa Operations
Adhere to and follow established transportation policies, procedures, and objectives
Develop, maintain and analyze data related to KPI’s to ensure sufficient team and carrier performance (SQDC & Performance Boards)
Assist with investigations to verify and resolve customer or shipper complaints
Other Important Details about the Role:
Be available to accept a variety of duties, as time permits, ranging from special projects as directed by the Materials Manager
Assist with the coordination of domestic orders with shipping, marketing, and carriers for a timely delivery and to be cost effective
Assist with the coordination of customer service activities necessary to communicate the shipping schedule with customers
Assist with daily communication with customer service, sites and others, coordinating delivery appointments with carriers, to meet company deadlines
Assist with the coordination of all truckload shipments from the Tulsa Operations location & finishing service providers
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Preferred Bachelors with 5 years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 7 years relevant experience or 9 years of relevant experience
Five years of experience in a manufacturing/distribution setting in Logistics, Supply Chain, Sales, or Customer Service
Supervisory or Management experience
Production control/supply chain management experience in manufacturing environment
Strong working knowledge of TMS and MRP/ERP Systems
Strong understanding of local, state, and federal transportation regulations
Advanced problem solving skills, with attention to detail
Strong leadership skills
Change management experience with the ability to drive focus, urgency, and accountability
Detail oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment with a focus on accuracy, follow through, and communication
Ability to coordinate logistics moves in a cost-effective and time critical manner utilizing technology available
Ability to analyze data in order to drive efficient operational impacts
Excellent planning and organizational skills exhibited under tight deadlines with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook.
Positive, professional demeanor in all interaction with colleagues, carriers, customers and vendors
Knowledge and experience necessary to assist with all operational aspects of logistics process
Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
Ability to work with people in a professional and respectful manner to address issues in a constructive way
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics/Supply Chain management
TMS Software experience
