A Brief Summary of This Position:

This is an individual contributor position responsible for working closely with the Bristol operations team in helping develop and manage the production schedule in order to balance effectively the customer demands and supply capacity. The ideal candidate will have an innate passion for continuous improvement and a knack for critical thinking and problem solving. You will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment as you work hand-in-hand with Bristol Operations, Engineering, Safety, and Shipping teams to ensure supply strategies are aligned with business goals and objectives. Demonstration of the core values of the Valmont Way is also required.

Essential Functions:

  • This position requires the incumbent to multitask and provide quick responses to production problems.

  • Creates, maintains and verifies the Production Schedule and interfaces with Operations and other stakeholders to resolve labor, equipment and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule deficits and / or interruptions.

  • Create a level supply schedule that satisfies customer demand with optimum inventory levels and resource utilization as dictated by division policy.

  • Support the operations team with analysis when needed to create visibility.

  • Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity

  • Source and request quotes for new material, or new suppliers for farm-out product.

  • Participate in continuous improvement of Planning and Control systems.

  • Ensures planning process and transactional execution that upholds inventory accuracy and integrity throughout the end to end material flow and manufacturing process.

  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Other Important Details about the Role:

  • Must have a high awareness for the safety of other employees and machines used in the production area

  • Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions

  • Participate in LEAN and 5S projects, as well as keep immediate production area clean

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a professional manner

  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions

  • The ability to work overtime as needed

  • The ability to work in extreme temperatures with exposure to chemicals and irritating particulates

  • The ability to recognize and solve practical problems

  • Cross-train with other schedulers and purchasing team, to provide backup tasks, as needed

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalency and 4+ years of work/education experience or Associates Degree

  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process of spun cast concrete poles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Ability to visually assess of the final products

  • Basic knowledge of the computer

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques

  • Attention to detail and quality in work

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Posses These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

  • Authority to operate the crane and the forklift

  • Experience with or knowledgeable of pole production process

  • Demonstrated abilities in visual scheduling and inventory optimization

  • Prior experience with master scheduling utilizing production family methodologies

  • Communicates openly and honestly in a clear and concise manner on an ongoing basis

  • Knowledge of mathematics and data analysis

  • Knowledge of IFS planning, scheduling, and replenishment tools
