A Brief Summary of This Position:
The Saw Operator works under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Lead Person and is responsible for operating the horizontal saw in order to cut pipe to prescribe lengths and correct angles. The incumbent also moves product throughout the department to various stations at Valmont Industries, TX.
Reads blueprints and understands geometric angles to cut pipe according to information on production drawings.
Uses common shop mathematics to manufacture product per shop drawings and specifications required.
Operates horizontal saw to cut to prescribe length and to the correct angle. Loads product that has been cut onto racks to proceed to next operation.
Operates forklift to move product to next operation. Also uses forklift to empty scrap hopper. Uses banding equipment to secure product for transporting.
Uses various measuring equipment such as and not limited to, tape measure, weld bead gauges, angle finder, and protractor.
Lifts repeatedly equipment, material, and parts weighing up to but not to exceed 50 pounds. Cleans work area daily to assure that work area is free from any dunnage, scrap, steel, slag or debris.
Eye and hand coordination necessary to produce quality product, and prevent injury. Uses proper safety procedures and equipment at all times, to protect one’s self and fellow workers.
Possesses adequate dexterity and stamina to sustain expected out-put.
Understand labor reporting system and uses same to record work completed
Maintain appropriate professional competencies, certifications, licenses, etc., necessary to perform job.
Make management aware of any training needs you have. Consult your management immediately if you are being asked to perform work for which you are not trained and/or are not comfortable doing because of potential safety or risk implications.
Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
Must be able to read and write English
Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
Work in a team environment.
Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED
1 years previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
1 years previous experience operating hand and/or power tools
The ability to accurately and honestly check one’s own work for quality assurance
Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
