How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Paint Utility position in the Paint department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will, while working under the direct supervision of the Departmental Supervisor/Lead person, Share responsibility with the Supervisor and Lead on subjects of safety, production schedules, productivity, training and dispatching.   • Be responsible for knowing all phases of the department operations and be able to assume responsibility for filling in for the Lead or Supervisor in the event of vacations, sickness, etc.

  • Be required to know and perform all phases of the painting process as a Painter and retaining this responsibility until the regular operator returns

  • Must be able to operate the following machines: manual blaster, liquid painting, powder painting, wrapper, straddle truck, forklift, lowerator

  • Must be able to perform preventive maintenance on all equipment including conveyors

  • Must be able to train all operators within the department

  • Must be a good communicator.

  • Be able to inspect products after curing to assure a high quality of finish with proper thickness, and complete Log Thickness readings on log sheet for tracking purposes

What it takes

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to read & write English

  • Perform basic math: add, subtract, multiply, divide decimals and fractions

  • Knowledge of basic shop tools and equipment

  • Ability to see clearly and differentiate between colors

  • Be able to read and interpret production drawings and Valmont specifications as related to coating requirements

  • Knowledgeable on IFS and computer systems for production order tracking

  • 6 months previous experience working as a Paint Associate Level 1 in the Paint Department

  • 6 months previous experience working as a Paint Associate Level 2 in the Paint Department

  • 6 months previous experience working as a Paint Associate Level 3 in the Paint department

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 year previous experience working as a Paint Associate Level 1 in the Paint Department

  • 1 year previous experience working as a Paint Associate Level 2 in the Paint Department

  • 1 year previous experience working as a Paint Associate Level 3 in the Paint Department

  • The ability to accurately and honestly check one’s own work for quality assurance

  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
