How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Material Handler/Stager position in the Shipping department. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will, while working under the direct supervision of the Departmental Supervisor/Lead person in the Stores department, be responsible for complete process of loading all products safely and accurately according to Valmont, Texas policies, procedures and work instructions.   • Responsible for inspecting material movement equipment to insure safe operations and reporting any unsafe conditions to Leadperson/Maintenance

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment prior to use.

  • Responsible for the proper identification of material movement per Valmont procedures

  • Responsible for gathering orders and staging orders per Valmont procedures

  • Responsible for completing all transactions through MRP system on material movement per Valmont procedures

  • Identify product to be loaded as required per Valmont procedures

  • Transport product to the staging area using straddle truck and forklift

  • Responsible for operating overhead and/or stacker cranes to lift/move pole product

  • Perform general housekeeping which includes and not limited to sweeping, painting, operating powered sweeper and mopping

  • Exercise a keen sense of safety when moving product

  • Conduct Cycle counts on inventory

  • Correct inventory errors.

  • Assist in other storeroom activities when crane is not in use.

  • Assist in loading trailers as needed

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to read and write English

  • Ability to use common manufacturing math

  • 6 months prior experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • 6 months prior experience operating heavy equipment

  • 6 months prior experience using computer inventory control system

  • Become a certified forklift operator within 30 days

  • Complete overhead crane training within 90 days

  • Become proficient in operating a straddle truck and shag truck

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 1 year prior experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • 1 year prior working experience operating heavy equipment

  • 1 year prior working experience using IFS system to tract work orders

  • The ability to accurately and honestly check one’s own work for quality assurance

  • A person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
