How you will contribute

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Shipping position. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will use meticulous diligence and care receiving, organizing, storing and loading steel structure components. Additionally, you will…

  • Operate a mobile rubber tire crane

  • Operate a forklift

  • Maintain receiving, storage, and loading operations by complying with and executing material movement activities

  • Understand structural components and read drawings of same

  • Maintain storage yard by ability to measure, track and record component pieces

  • Safeguard storage yard and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols

  • Maintains physical condition of storage yard; inspecting equipment; requesting repairs and replacement when needed

  • Identify and Count quantities completely and accurately

  • Move material utilizing mobile rubber tire cranes and forklift

  • Match incoming paper documents to verify pieces, quantity, and inspect for damage

  • Produce and maintain loading documents for shipments to customers

  • Supervise loading personnel

  • Have opportunities to train for other positions as they become available

What it takes

Required Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years previous experience preferred in loading and unloading structural components in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

  • OR graduated from an acceptable Technical Training Program focused in material movement

  • 3 to 5 years previous supervisory experience preferred

  • The ability to read, write, add, subtract, multiply, divide and count accurately

  • Ability to use common manufacturing math

  • Repetitive lifting (up to 50 lbs. on occasion), stooping, reaching, pulling, standing, pushing, and grasping are required

  • The ability to stand 90% of a shift and work in noisy, non-climate controlled outdoor conditions

  • The ability to work with small hand tools including tape measures and gauges

  • Proficient at reading tags, bills of lading, and shipping and receiving papers

Highly qualified candidates will also possess:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 5+ years of previous inventory or material movement experience in an assembly environment

  • 5+ years of previous inventory or material movement experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment

  • 5+ years of previous supervisory experience

  • 5+ year of previous experience operating hand and/or power tools

  • The ability to accurately and honestly check one's own work for quality assurance

  • The ability to communicate problems or needs to departmental supervision

  • The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner

  • The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions completely and accurately

  • High awareness for safety

  • Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
